Jamie Ashdown found out he was let go… via Twitter

To help fuel the ongoing uncertainty around who is actually running Leeds from a day-to-day perspective, now ex-Leeds goalkeeper Jamie Ashdown tweeted that he received formal notification of not getting a new deal 24 hours after learning the same information on Twitter.
The club released the retained list late on Friday, which spread over Twitter via the usual outlets.  The players, however, seemingly didn’t get the formal notification of this until the mail arrived on Saturday.
Now, we’re used to things being done a little differently at Leeds, but I cannot think of a less professional way of handling a potentially delicate situation than this.  Whatever parallels you wish to draw to breaking off relationships are irrespective at this point; a player should not be finding anything out via social media.
